Garden Café is a new friendly restaurant giving pride of place to fresh and nice produces that welcomes families with open arms. The spot has opened this early January 2019 in Boulogne-Billancourt, at the doors of Paris. With its green and relaxing decorum and its play area for kids, this haven of peace is open 7 days a week, all you need to be happy.
As coming on in the restaurant with a decoration reminding us of nature, we’re hit by a depth-feeling thanks to the genius set of mirrors and lights.
With its big volumes and its plant-inspired décor, Garden Café offers a sophisticated menu mainly based on local, generally organic and seasonal ingredients. Of course, everything is “homemade”, and dishes can suit children and adults.
The main asset of the place, Garden Café has been designed for families. Under the mezzanine, it houses a Garden Kids entirely dedicated to children.
All week long, during opening hours, you can grab some coffee or sip a drink (on the terrace, if the weather allows it), in peace while your kids have fun with colorful games suiting their height. Do you remember the last time you had breakfast with friends or reading the news without being bothered by your little rascals?
Moreover, in the weekend, the place offers you to enjoy a breakfast with your family, friends or the love of your life while your kids are with a “Drôle de Science” host who will take care of them and offers them many funny yet scientific activities.
Not only will you have a delicious moment with your guests without having your kiddos under your feet, but you can learn many playful and interesting things. At the end of lunch, gravity, magnetism, the solar system or even dinosaurs will hold no more secrets for them.
Okay, it all sounds super good, but what do we eat? For children, it’s simple: ham or ½ young rooster served with French fries or mashed potatoes, a glass of syrup or fruit juice and a scoop of ice cream for dessert for €12.
For the others, the seasonal menu provides a little variety of dishes – which is often a token of quality and freshness. We have a winter squash velouté served with grains and soft-boiled egg for starter, and some PGI duck breast from South-West served with baby potatoes as a main course. We can also go for the meat or fish of the day.
On Sundays, in addition to the usual menu, we can enjoy a tantalizing roast lamb shoulder with sides to choose such as pot-au-feu vegetables, buttery mashed potatoes, baked potatoes, homemade French fries or salad for €21.
Moving on to dessert, we fell for the meringue lemon pie, but we must say we hesitated a lot with the roast mango, coconut milk and passion fruit.
In the end, Garden Café is a rare restaurant able to provide a moment as delightful for you as thrilling for your kids.
Please note that it's been over 4 years since our last visit, so the place and experience may have changed.
