For several years now, the reconstruction of the Saint-Denis spire has been open to the public. In 2023, summer workshops will once again accompany the basilica's archaeological excavations, until July 30, 2023. Suivez la flèche, an association in partnership with the Centre des Monuments Nationaux, offers a complete experience inmanual workshops, to discover the trades of yesteryear with the whole family!
Several formulas are offered to the public, whether beginners or advanced, from a few hours on site to several days, alone or with the family. Participants can discover the history of the Basilique Saint-Denis and learn the skills of the builders, in the setting of the Pierre de Montreuil garden, from craftsmen.
Also on the program are guided tours combining discovery of architectural details with an introduction to stone-cutting and tool handling. Discover the skills of blacksmiths and builders of basilicas and cathedrals, at the foot of a basilica listed as a national monument, by reserving your workshop!

After an introduction to the project to rebuild the spire, visitors are invited to take the tools in hand and discover the art of bas-relief. Mediators introduce them to the work of limestone, which gives color to the monuments of the Ile-de-France region. From the art of tracing to the use of the mallet and chisel, participants will take away their own creations from the workshop.
