Like every year, the Bergerie Nationale celebrates the change of season with the Shearing and Wool Festival, on Saturday March 23 and Sunday March 24, 2024, from 11am to 6pm.
The Merino sheep is in a way the Bergerie Nationale de Rambouillet 's emblematic animal: the breed has been present at the sheepfold for over 200 years, and the animal's wool is particularly prized. So, for two days, families and professionals alike are invited to find out all about this special breed.
What's on the agenda? Come and visit the sheepfolds, find out everything there is to know about working with wool, and follow the sheep-shearing and herding dog demonstrations from A to Z! La Bergerie also offers horse-drawn carriage rides, and there's a designer's market especially for the occasion. And don't forget the knitting café and crochet tea, where you can knit in a friendly atmosphere, and the stilt walk for the more sporty of you! There's something for all ages, for young and old alike, and it's like a real village fete!
Otherwise, as usual, the Bergerie educational farm also opens its doors to you, with a tour to follow and plenty of farm animals to meet. A great way to officially celebrate the arrival of spring 2024!
