After line 3bis, line 7bis is the second shortest line on the Paris metro. Like its cousin, line 7bis was originally part of another transport line, line 7, in the form of a branch line, before this section was isolated and operated independently. So, while this branch line originally went into service in 1911, it has been operating as line 7bis since 1967.
With 8 stations on a 3km route, line 7bis mainly serves the north-east of Paris, mainly the 19th arrondissement, from Louis Blanc station to Pré-Saint-Gervais. Although line 7bis is one of the least frequented of the Paris metro lines, it nevertheless provides access to the capital's largest park, Parc des Buttes-Chaumont. It also offers a number of connections with lines 2, 5, 7 and 11 of the RATP network. Although this metro line is located entirely within the Paris inner city, it brings passengers close to the town of Le Pré-Saint-Gervais, located in the inner suburbs of the Seine-Saint-Denis département.
