Every year, France celebrates its national holiday on July 14, a date chosen to commemorate both the storming of the Bastille and the Fête de la Fédération. In the run-up to this public holiday, in the heart of summer, the country is marked by traditional celebrations. All over France, fireworks light up the sky as night falls, while dancers take to the stage at bals populaires and bals des pompiers. During the day, military parades, Republican picnics and other entertainment await young and old alike.
In Paris, highlights include the iconic fireworks display from the Eiffel Tower, and the Military Parade , usually held on theAvenue des Champs-Elysées (exceptionally moved this year). As for the rest of the Île-de-France region, you won't want to miss out! Numerous communes organize their festivities between July 13 and 14, allowing some to find a program close to home and others to take advantage of the opportunity to explore the region's heritage.
In the Seine-et-Marne region, the riverside town of Champagne-sur-Seine awaits us with its traditional July 14th Fête Nationale celebrations. It's an opportunity to discover this charming town, with its old town center, riverbanks, churches and the former Schneider factory.
Join us on July 13, 2024, at Stade Paul Hébras, for the annual fireworks display at 10:45pm! The evening will close with a ball on the Place de Villèle.
