This year, as elsewhere in France, the Loubavitch movement in the Hauts-de-Seine region is once again organizing public Hanukkah lighting ceremonies in a number of towns to celebrate the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah. In 2023, Hanukkah runs from December 25, 2024 to January 1, 2025, and in keeping with tradition, Jews around the world will light a new candle from the famous Hanukkah candlestick every evening. And since it's a moment of gathering and communion, we might as well do it in public!
The 92 department is one of the few in the Ile-de-France region to offer public lighting every day it's possible, i.e. all week long, except Fridays, when the entrance to Shabbat prevents the event.
