As it does every year, the Loubavitch movement in France is pulling out all the stops to celebrate Hanukkah. This year, the Jewish holiday runs from December 25, 2024 to January 1, 2025, and as elsewhere in France, public lightings are planned in several towns in the Val-d'Oise.
Yes, at Hanukkah, Jews all over the world have a tradition of lighting the eight branches of a candlestick, the hanukiah, with a new branch every evening, at dusk, to commemorate the miracle of the lights, which we explain here. These public lightings are open to all, and free of charge.
