To celebrate the Journées du Patrimoine, on the weekend of September 21 and 22, 2024, the French Basketball Federation (FFBB) is opening the doors of its museum.
In this basketball den, you can admire collectors' items , trophies and cups, emblematic outfits of the French national team, photos of the greatest players, balls of all shapes and sizes... In short, dozens and dozens of pieces and relics that tell the great story of basketball in France.
Come and discover this unique space, which puts the spotlight on French basketball, and enjoyspecial tours andevents during the Journées du Patrimoine. To keep your passion alive, you can even enjoy a game with friends afterwards, on one of the many courts dotted around Paris...
On Saturday September 21, between 9:00 and 18:00, visitors can tour the Galerie du Basket and the Centre de Recherche et de Documentation Yvan Mainini. The gallery features remarkable pieces from the Museum's collections, while the scenography showcases the history of basketball and the specific features of its development in France. Jerseys from major teams, equipment from all eras, medals won by the French teams (at the Olympic Games, World Cup and European Championships), a model of the oldest basketball hall in the world, posters, and more. In the Research Centre, usually reserved for researchers, students and journalists, books from the Musée du Basket library and the FFBB's historical archives can be consulted. A selection of books and documents will be available to the public. Throughout the day, visitors will be able to talk to members of the FFBB's Heritage & Legends Commission and the Club des Internationaux, all of whom have worn the jersey of the French basketball team.
Saturday September 21, between 9:00 and 18:00, the Espace muséal FFBB opens its doors to the public. Members of the Musée du Basket, the FFBB Heritage Commission and the Club des Internationaux de Basket will show you around.
Throughout the day, members of the Musée du Basket, the FFBB Heritage Commission and the Club des Internationaux de Basket will offer guided tours of the Espace muséal, inaugurated in 2011. Each tour lasts between 30 minutes and one hour. Tours start at peak times (10am, 11am, 12pm, 2pm, 3pm, 4pm, 5pm).
