The Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days ) are one of the highlights of September in Paris and the Île-de-France region. This cultural event, which takes place all over Europe, invites us to enjoy a fine program of visits, often free of charge, andoriginal activities in museums, monuments, institutions, châteaux and other places that make up our heritage. You'll usually find this great offer on the third weekend in September. This year, the 40th edition of the Journées du Patrimoine is scheduled for the weekend of September 21 and 22, 20243, and for the occasion, a fabulous program awaits you in Paris and the Ile-de-France region.
Let's take advantage of this 41st edition to conquer the Ile-de-France's heritage, which is still too little known! Come and discover the heritage apartment of the cité-jardins de Suresnes! It's a former janitor's lodge built in 1932 and located behind the Théâtre de Suresnes Jean Vilar (12 avenue Alexandre-Maistrasse). It has been preserved from the remodeling work that affected all the apartments in the Suresnes garden city in the 1980s.
In addition to the dressing room, the apartment contains all the rooms needed for a couple's life: kitchen with sink, pantry and stove, dining room, bedroom and bathroom with shower. All modern comforts!

Discover Mont-Valérien in a different way
On the occasion of the European Heritage Days, come and discover, decipher and analyze the high-reliefs on Mont-Valérien, symbols of the stories of fighting France, on Saturday September 21 and Sunday September 22, at 11am and 3pm.
16 massive high-reliefs adorn the façade of the memorial to fighting France: what do they represent? What speeches do they illustrate? What are the key elements for deciphering the bronzes that adorn this high place of national remembrance?
Through the presentation of unpublished archives, unveiled this year, the Mont-Valérien memorial invites you to understand the memorial project desired by General de Gaulle and inaugurated 60 years ago. The use of art is not to be left to chance in the construction of a place of remembrance and in the desire to transmit a narrative of the Resistance. A facet of the Mont-Valérien memorial that is too little known and analyzed, yet unmissable and visible, come and discover the secrets of the 16 high-reliefs of fighting France.

Unique in France, this small museum is housed in one of the guardhouses of the barracks built in 1756 by Louis XV. It illustrates the history of the soldiers who faithfully served France.

Heritage Days 2024 at the Suresnes Museum of Urban and Social History
MUS and the Ecological Transition Department invite you to discover some of Suresnes' heritage features by bike. A 2-hour tour will take you around points of interest highlighted by MUS mediators. It's also an opportunity to take a ride on the new cycling infrastructure.
Come and discover the "secret" areas of MUS to which only team members normally have access! Buffer zone, offices, Nodal... Soon none of these spaces will hold any secrets for you! It's also a great way to find out about the different jobs at MUS.
For the first time this year, we are no longer offering tours of the Ecole de Plein Air de Suresnes. In order to maintain a link with this key building, which is featured in our collections, we're proposing a participative planisphere installed in our spaces, echoing its emblematic Globe. Come and decorate this planisphere with your own travel photos!
From the vineyards to the industries of Suren, via the garden cities and the École de plein air, the tour will appeal to all five senses.
The Société d'Histoire de Suresnes, the association A.P.R.E.S. - Amicale des personnels retraités de l'établissement de Suresnes, the association AIRitage, the MUS, the archives communales and the mediatheques have joined forces to produce and present the temporary exhibition "Suresnes : 120 ans au service de l'aéronautique et du spatial, de Blériot à Airbus" at the Suresnes mediatheque on the occasion of the Journées européennes du patrimoine 2023.
Exceptionally, this exhibition returns to the MUS this year! Enjoy two guided tours led by members of the Société d'Histoire et d'A.P.R.E.S!

Gathering of classic cars
Many factories and personalities have contributed to the development of car manufacturing in Suresnes, a town with a rich industrial past.
Throughout the weekend, collectors will welcome you to view their vehicles, and you'll have plenty of time to ask them questions about these beautiful old cars, some of which were built in Suresnes at the beginning of the 20th century, such as the Talbot, Darracq or Le Zèbre.
An exhibition will trace the development of Suresnes' automotive industry since the early 20th century. Many automobile factories developed in the Alto-Séquan area during this period.
