The Journées du Patrimoine, one of the most eagerly-awaited cultural events of the year, is back again. This Europe-wide event is the perfect opportunity to discover historical and artistic treasures through a wide range of free visits, often accompanied by events including concerts and workshops. On this occasion, the Paris region doesn't miss a beat when it comes to discovering its heritage. From the most iconic spots to the most secret places, monuments, museums, castles, ministries, institutions, churches and much more are taking part in the ball, and this is even the time to take advantage of exceptional visits to places usually closed to the public.
And while Paris is a real eye-catcher, the surrounding region is no exception, with its many treasures well worth a visit. So why not take the opportunity to discover the treasures of the Ile-de-France region? If you live in Essonne or would like to explore this département of the Île-de-France region, we suggest that you visit the town of Vigneux-sur-Seine, where a great program of visits to the heart of the town's heritage awaits you.

Vigneux Town Hall
To mark the European Heritage Days, Vigneux-sur-Seine is publishing a new brochure on the history of the town: Art is the theme chosen for 2024. Curious visitors can now explore the town in search of frescoes, for example on a wall of the Louis Pasteur school complex, or decorations on electrical cabinets. Sculpture is on display outdoors, with free access: the Magnannerie stone sculpture, visible in the Gros Buisson park, and sculptures by Jean-Pierre Demarchi and Yasuo Misui. The municipal heritage also includes some nuggets in the gymnasiums: Abram Krol's mosaic and Virginio Vona's painting. Finally, the 2024 brochure includes two fact sheets on contemporary artists Danièle Decollonge and Franco Vitalino.
Installation of some 20 heritage plaques "Au fil de l'histoire" to coincide with the 2024 Youth Olympic Games: based on the theme of itinerancy, the plaques enable visitors to discover the history of 4 districts of Vigneux-sur-Seine: the Mairie, Lac, Gare and Fleurs districts, complementing the information already on the street plaques (former members of the Resistance, famous people, etc.).
At Georges Brassens Hall
Exhibition on the career of Arlette Dorgère, a Vigneux artist of the early 20th century: this singer, dancer and actress was famous in Paris during the Belle Epoque. For 30 years, she owned the Château de Vigneux, located on rue Pierre Marin, which has since been nicknamed Château Dorgère. She then moved to Monaco, where she died in 1965.
