The Ferris wheel on the Concorde almost seems to be a Parisian landmark, like the obelisk on the square, because we're so used to seeing it! But now it's time to take it down, much to the dismay of its owner, Monsieur Campion.
In fact, the "king of fairgrounds" is locked in a tug-of-war with Paris City Hall, the former having already shaved a few days off the scheduled date. The attraction was originally due to have cleared the floor by April 30 at the latest.
Last November, Marcel Campion had already blocked the Place de la Concorde for a few hours, in reaction to the government's threat to dismantle the Ferris wheel ahead of schedule, as it was taking up more surface area than originally planned. In short, it's an ongoing battle that Marcel Campion intends to wage for some time to come!
But fans of the Parisian Ferris wheel can rest assured, it will be back as soon as the Christmas market opens on the Champs Elysées, on November 17, 2017. So until then, hurry, there are only a few days left to admire Paris from the top of this contraption, for an entry ticket of 12 euros for an adult and 6 for a child!
