After the success of previous climate marches, including the most recent one (December 8) which brought together 230,000 people in 191 cities to denounce climate inaction and call for a response commensurate with the urgency, a new climate march is in the works.
In Paris, le Printemps Climatique et Social awaits you in large numbers on Saturday, March 16, 2019, starting at 2pm on Place de l'Opéra and finishing on Place de la République.
Organized by Rise For The Climate France, and in support of, among others, the Affaire du siècle (over 1.5 million signatories as of December 23), the event hopes to bring together and mobilize as many people as possible to demand change as soon as possible.
The Facebook event reads: " We are living in an increasingly critical environmental and social context: record greenhouse gas emissions, disappearance of biodiversity, rising temperatures and widening disparities between rich and poor, with 14% of the population in precarious situations in France. [...] Faced with the government's inaction, civil society is calling for responses commensurate with what is at stake: the survival of humanity ".
The aim of this new march and mobilization? To demand " drastic measures to reorganize society on the basis of justice and solidarity for us and for the planet ", as well as " fair, effective and redistributive carbon taxation, and social and ecological measures to facilitate the transition to alternatives that will enable us to live better, the end of fossil energies and the development of wind and solar farms, a massive training plan in the sectors of the future, especially for the most precarious, an end to the impunity of multinationals, lobbies or climate change lobby groups (in the banking, energy, agricultural sectors...).) ".
