The level of the Seine continues to rise in Paris. " New rainfall over the weekend has generated new flood waves in basins upstream of Paris. These flood waves have been causing a rise in the Seine section in Paris since Saturday afternoon, and will continue to do so on Monday," explains Vigicrues, which is therefore placing the capital under yellow vigilance for the risk of flooding.
For the time being, the famous Zouave is not yet in the water. On Sunday January 9, the Seine rose to 2.67 meters at the Pont d'Austerlitz. But according to Vigicrues forecasts, the Seine could exceed 3.25 meters this Monday, January 10, 2022. Note, however, that " the timing and trends of forecasts (heights and/or flows) are variable " depending on the ultrasonic flowmeter stations.
For the time being, this level of the Seine remains well below that reached in January 2018 (with 5.88 meters) or that recorded in June 2016 (with 6.10 meters). The situation is expected to improve in the coming days due to the dry weather forecast for Paris and the Île-de-France region.
As a reminder, other French departments are at risk of flooding this Monday, January 10. Météo France has placed a total of 5 south-western departments on red alert, including two at risk of flooding.
