Paris best baguette 2020

Calling all delicious Parisian baguette fans, it’s now in Paris 17^th arrondissement that you’ll have to go to enjoy the Best Baguette in Paris 2020. Taieb Sahal wins over Fabrice Leroy from the Leroy Monty bakery in Parsi 12^th arrondissement who won last’s year edition, and wins the contest.

For the record, the contest for the best French tradition baguette is held every year and hosted by the city of Paris. It faces off bakers’ baguettes from Paris.

This year, 210 bakers competed to win this coveted prize. But only 157 baguettes made it to the final laps. They’ve been tested, tasted and 53 baguettes ticked the boxes for the size, weight and salt content.

To win the Grand prix de la meilleure baguette de Paris, products presented should be between 55 and 65cm long, weigh between 250 and 300 grams and have an 18gr salt content per kilo of flour. Baguettes are then judged on baking, taste, crumb, smell and look criteria. All participating bakers in Paris have been invited to take part in the Grand Prix de la Baguette 2020, organized in partnership with the Chambre Professionnelle des Artisans Boulangers-Pâtissiers de Paris, Hauts-de-Seine and Seine-Saint-Denis and Val-de-Marne.

Included 15 members, the jury panel involved professionals and Internet users randomly selected alongside Paris deputy mayor entrusted with Commerce Olivia Polski, professional federations,  boulangers du Grand Paris chairman Franck Thomasse, Chambre des Métiers et de l’Artisanat chairman Pascal Barillon, Académie Culinaire de France president Fabrice Prochasson as well as Fabrice Leroy from the Boulangerie Leroy-Monti, meilleure Baguette de Paris 2019.

In addition to the €4000 win, the award for Best Baguette in Paris brings the store a great fame and has the chance to supply the Elysée for a year.
