After the great One World: Together At Home online show, the European Commission launches on May 4th, 2020 a great online telethon: #GlobalResponse. On social networks, Ursula von der Leyen calls in for the generosity of the States, companies and celebrities to work for the research of treatments and vaccines that would be shared on a world basis.

According to the European Commission president, if the virus infects the whole world, the response must be “global”. Yes, because a worry weights in, from the many initiatives scattering financings and already challenging how discoveries are “shared” between countries. This Global Response telethon aims at helping to develop a vaccine.
Ursula von der Leyen is supported by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation playing an important part to raise funds. The organizer of this “online marathon” hopes to raise 7.5 billion euros, that is to say 8 billion dollars. Out of these 7.5 billion euros expected, first, 4 billion will be donated to develop a vaccine, 2 to treatments and 1.5 to the manufacturing of tests, the Commission says.
If the idea is great, the initiative is reserved for major donators, the States, celebrities and companies’ foundations. José Mourinho and Stéfanos Tsitsipás already promised to donate. As for us, we can tag our favorite celebrities to encourage them to donate as much as possible!
