The first phase of France’s containment exit goes with a new system in order to make health investigations easier. It was about the creation of a shared medical file gathering medical and non-medical data.
These centralized data would be entered and checked by many actors, depending on the data collected by the health brigades. Olivier Véran said two tools will be implemented starting Wednesday May 13, 2020.
The first one, named Sl-DEP applies to data collected by laboratories. As for the second one, Contact Covid, it is based on the model on the Assurance Maladie’s website. It is said to aim at warning those who have been in contact with people who have caught coronavirus to encourage them to get tested.
As these sensitive data can be checked by multiple people, it leads to a data protection issue. In order to make sure there is no abuse, the French National Commission for Information Technology and Civil Liberties (CNIL) can, starting Wednesday May 13, 2020, run controls on the management of Contact Covid files.
Health inquiries aiming at tracking and testing contact cases when someone has been tested positive for coronavirus enabled to find other sick, sometimes asymptomatic, as it has been in Dordogne and at the Lannion hospital.
