How does the coronavirus epidemic evolve in France? Every day from the beginning of the health crisis, new data are release to review the evolution of covid-19, including in France. But it often happens that to improve the assessment of the trends, one shall take a step back. Every week, Santé Publique France shares an epidemiologic review summarizing the evolution of the coronavirus epidemic in France with different key data.
Epidemiologic review – October 15, 2020
One still notices an increase in all indicators, including a sharp increase in the positivity rate that goes from 9.1% to 12.2% and even 22% in people showing symptoms. The number of new contaminations in people aged 65+ has even tripled in six weeks.
Hospitalizations related to Covid are also increasing by 19% in a week. Admissions in ICU have grown by 1.9%. As for the number of deaths, it increased by 12% in comparison with the week before: these are mainly covid-19 hospitalizations, the toll being more stable in nursing homes.

Coronavirus: 3,240 clusters investigated in France

Coronavirus in Paris-île-de-France: 108 active clusters, 1,186 reported since September
How is the cluster situation in Ile-de-France? As of November 19, 2020, the Parisian region totaled 208 active clusters. 958 clusters have been reported in the region since May 8, 2020, including 1,440 in the area including 1,186 since September 2020. France includes 78 departments on vulnerable alert and 17 on mild. As for departments oversears, in high vulnerable areas, the epidemic keeps on spreading in Martinique as it is slowing down in Guadeloupe and stabilizing in French Guiana. As for areas on mild vigilance, in Mayotte, the trend is increasing and decreasing in Reunion.
