This Fall comes with the second coronavirus epidemic wave in Europe. Facing this “booming” in Covid-19 infections, the World Health Organization (WHO) is worried and calls concerned countries to continue efforts to face the pandemic.

The epidemic is escalating in Europe. As forecasted by representative from the scientific community, the second coronavirus wave has hit the continent in the Fall 2020. Restrictions are escalating but strategies do differ. In turns, Ireland, Wales, France, England and even Greece are placed back into lockdown. Others, like Spain, Italy or Austria go for curfew.

But this boom in infections has Director of the WHO Office for Europe Hans Kluge worried. In an interview with the AFP he says the mortality rate could be seen rising “little by little” and calls all concerned countries to continue efforts as recommending schools should close as a last resort only.

A few days before, a representative of the WHO in Europe also declared the virus is likely to be around forever.
