Coronavirus: museums to reopen earlier than expected in France?

Are museums to reopen earlier than expected? This Thursday February 4, 2021 Prime Minister Jean Castex said Minister of Culture Roselyne Bachelot was currently working on an anticipated reopening of circulating cultural places.

Is cultural life about to eventually resume in France? This Thursday February 4, 2021, the government held a press briefing to assess the health situation in France and the strategy used to face the coronavirus epidemic. At this stage, even though there is no new lockdown to be instated, Prime Minister Castex yet called for responsibility and prudence.

Yet, hope has been brought for cultural places in France. Asked about the reopening dates of the closed facilities, Castex said that some of them could return earlier than others. He spoke about Minister of Culture Roselyne Bachlot who is currently working to complete anticipated reopening of circulating cultural places museums are part of.

So far, sole exhibitions taking place within art galleries are allowed to open to the general public. No precise date has been given for the other cultural places. This possible anticipated reopening yet does not apply to movie theaters or show venues.

It remains to be seen when and how. Yet, this is good news for cultural places which reopening has been subject to an opinion column recently signed by several celebrities.
