End of the 10km rule, the daytime derogatory trip certificate, trips between regions allowed
As Emmanuel Macron explained in the regional daily press, starting from May 3, 2021, it will be no longer question about the famous 10-km rule and the French will be allowed to ditch the derogatory trip certificate during the day.
As for restrictions on trips between regions, they will be lifted as well. The French will be able to move freely between regions in France without having to prove the necessity of their trips. Furthermore, the SNCF has planned to increase the train traffic for the upcoming public holidays.

Since this May 3, 2021, a new derogatory trip certificate to travel between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. is available. Each trip during curfew must be justified by a valid ground. For each trip, you will have to download and fill in a certificate from the government website or the websites of the Ministry of Health and the Secretary of the Interior.

Junior high schoolers and high schoolers to return to class
After 4 weeks far from school, junior high schoolers and high schoolers are ultimately going back to school starting from May 3, but with new rules. Therefore, high schoolers will return to class in half-gauges, like in March.
Same fate for eighth graders and ninth graders in the 15 hardest-hit departments namely: Nord, Aisne, Oise, Yvelines, Seine-et-Marne, Seine-Saint-Denis, Hauts-de-Seine, Val-d’Oise, Val-de-Marne, Essonne, Paris, Sarthe, Loire, Rhône, and Bouches-du-Rhône.
Yet, for eighth graders and ninth graders from the other departments, they will return to school as usual, so will sixth and seventh graders everywhere in France.
What does not change from May 3
Curfew is still on from 7 p.m. Working from home also remains the rule.
Stores, cultural places, and even terraces will stay closed on May 3 and will have to wait for May 19 before they can receive people again, in compliance with gauges and protocols fitting each place and activity.
