Mask-free train journeys are not happening anytime soon. This Friday July 23, Minister for Transports Jean-Baptiste Djebbari confirmed on BFMTV that facemask-wearing stays compulsory in transport, even if one is holding their health pass. This measure is vital in the health protocol and will be kept “for at least the entire summer”.
The minister added checking one’s health pass will be mostly completed before boarding the train, but there could be random checking during the travel until the arrival. He guarantees the SNCF will soon be ready to instate the protocol: “we have authorized a certain number of members of the staff: inspectors, train police members, SNCF train safety agents”.
The health pass will be compulsory from early August to ride long-haul trains and coaches but will not apply to TER trains, metro and transilient trains.
