This Wednesday August 11, opening a new Health Defense Council, Emmanuel Macron warned about a “dramatic situation” in French West Indies. “The health crisis is not behind us. We will have to live with the virus for many more months”, the French President also claimed.

A new Health Defense Council is held this Wednesday August 11, 2021, because of the deteriorating health situation in France. Although the implementation of the health pass is to be addressed, the situation in French West Indies is also on the agenda. On that matter, the French President, Emmanuel Macron, took the floor to open this Defense Council, saying the situation is “dramatic” in the French West Indies. “In Guadeloupe and Martinique, we are faced with a dramatic situation involving unconditional solidarity from the entire nation”, the head of state explained from the Fort de Brégançon.

More generally in mainland France, “earlier this week, more than 9,200 Covid-19 hospitalizations have been reported, a level not reached since June”, Macron added before saying “the health situation is more than tricky”.

Furthermore, the Head of State reminded the importance to get vaccinated. “Our goal is vaccinating all the French who can be vaccinated. […] Vaccines are a fully comprehensive insurance against hospitalizations and severe disease”, he stated.

President Macron also warned: “the health crisis is not behind us. We will have to live with the virus for many more months”, he thinks.

Therefore, the French President once again addressed the implementation of the health pass considering “legitimate to call managers of the places involved for responsibility”.
