To mark the 77th anniversary of the Liberation of Paris, the Mairie de Paris has chosen to pay tribute to the men and women who sacrificed themselves for Freedom, with a poetry reading by actors Philippe Torrenton, Marion Isvi and Nicolas Evrard, accompanied by musicians. Together, they have planned an evocation of seven "episodes" of the Liberation, with texts, archive images and current photos.

History buffs young and old are invited to the Parvis de l'Hôtel de Ville for a very special literary event: Tout recommence à Paris, a theatrical evocation of the Liberation of Paris, on the very spot where General de Gaulle chanted "Paris! Paris outragé! Paris brisé! Paris martyrisé! mais Paris libéré!" on August 25, 1944.

The aim of this public evocation is"to give spectators the desire to rediscover this glorious episode inFrench history, as well as the Parisian memorial sites that bear witness to it", namely the former Montparnasse train station, the Porte l'Orléans, the Rue de Rivoli and the Eiffel Tower. The event will feature poignant texts on the unfolding of events, accompanied by images, as well as poems paying tribute to the men and women who fought in the armed forces, or for some, participated in the Resistance, to liberate Paris and France from the yoke of the Nazis.

This public tribute will be preceded by a ceremony paying homage to General Leclerc and the 2nd DB at Porte d'Orléans, with a tribute to the fighters of the Nueve, a Spanish company attached to General Leclerc's 2nd armored division, who were the first Allied soldiers to enter Paris on August 24, 1944. A special tribute will be paid to former members of the Resistance and soldiers of the 2nd armored division who died during the health crisis, at the Musée de la Libération de Paris, the Musée du Général Leclerc and the Musée Jean Moulin. A plaque in tribute to Charles Pegulu, a former member of the 2nd DB and museum volunteer, will also be unveiled.
