This week, the yearly competition rewarding the best pâtissiers and especially in the dessert category since 1974 took place in Normandy, in Rouen. And pastry chef Pierre Jean Quinonero won the title as France’s Dessert Champion thanks to his creation called “Fraîcheur Pomme du Montois, Coco et pointe de cumin” [Fresh Montois Apple, Coconut and Cumin], after 4.5 hours of challenge.
His dessert – selected amid 200 other participants – will soon be available at the Le Baudelaire restaurant of hotel Burgundy Paris, where the winner is the actual pastry chef. He says he is “very happy to win this prestigious title” and thanks “members of the jury, President Philippe Mille and everyone supporting me and accompanying me on a daily basis. This is the 4th contest I win and I do not intend to stop now!”.
In the Junior category, Simon Lefebvre won the title for Frace’s Dessert Champion.
