This Sunday, July 2, 2023 will be marked by a rather unusual full moon , as it will be much bigger and brighter than usual! This astronomical phenomenon, known asthe "Super Deer Moon", occurs when the star reaches its perigee, and is therefore closest to the Earth! This year, you'll see this phenomenon with the naked eye, on the night of July 2 to 3, and until 1.40pm on the 3rd.
Described as 14% larger and 30% brighter than a classic full moon, the supermoon occurs when the Moon is at perigee, i.e. at the closest point to its orbit, the Earth, at a distance of around 356,500 kilometers. On the night of July 2 to 3, the Earth, Moon and Sun will be aligned, giving the impression of a " pink supermoon ".
Let's hope the weather 's on our side, and that the rain doesn't get in the way! At the very least, the temperature is very pleasant, allowing us to take to the heights of the capital to admire the spectacle, if the clouds don't get in the way.
