At the beginning of July, we were able to admire a magnificent Super Moon, a regular summer event. Others await us until early September, but in the meantime, we're enjoying a particularly brilliant Venus on Sunday July 9, visible for some time, and soon an alignment of major planets, from July 19 to 22, 2023, between Mercury, Venus, Mars and the Moon !
On the night of July 19 to 20, shortly after sunset, we'll see the Moon slowly appear and pass close to two planets, Mercury and Venus, particularly low at this time of year, and easy to spot thanks to the shepherd's star's high brilliance. The following night, a new planet joins the party: glowing Mars, a little higher and to the west than the other two. Look towards this direction and the constellation Leo, before a clear landscape on the horizon to enjoy an alignment between our satellite and three planets of our solar system, until July 22.
Astronomers and amateurs alike will be able to observe this event with the naked eye, or through a simple telescope. If the weather cooperates on these two summer evenings, you'll be in for a superb show!
