At the request of the city hall of the 12th arrondissement of Paris, the Prefecture of Police banned the consumption and sale of alcohol near the Gare de Lyon on July 19, 2022. Many local residents complained of significant nuisance in the evening, on the Henri-Frenay square, located behind the Parisian station.
In Paris, the consumption of alcohol is already forbidden from 4pm to 7am on the public highway. But on this square, the ban is extended from July 19 to September 11, 2022, and valid from 11am to 4pm as well. The sale of alcohol to take away is no longer allowed from 5pm to 9pm, in addition to the usual ban from 9pm to 6am.
According to the prefecture, 180 security operations took place this year on the Henri-Frenay square and 159 had to be carried out in addition at the request of local residents and authorities, with numerous fines.
Following our request, the @prefpolice has agreed to the implementation of a temporary ban on the sale of alcohol on Place Henri Frenay. I thank Mr. Le Préfet and the teams of the police station. Happy summer
