This is an unavoidable investment according to Paris Authorities. In 2023, the streets of the city will feature 315 new CCTV cameras. The news was broken in 20 Minutes daily. These cameras are to improve the safety of the sixty-three “priority” sites in the 13th, 15th, 18th and 19th arrondissements. Paris deputy mayor Nicolas Nordman told a press conference he wants to issue twice as many tickets in 2023. He also explained there are eleven times more cameras in the 1st arrondissement than in the 15th and 20th arrondissements, for instance.
These installations are very important in readiness of the 2024 Olympics. The amount of the installation of these CCTV cameras is set at 4 million euros. To date, about 4,000 CCTV cameras are scattered in Paris. The city ranks 28th in the cities with the highest number of cameras per inhabitant.
