A major Parisian event, the Paris Marathon returns to the capital this Sunday morning, April 7, 2024. And we're clearly advising you not to venture out by car into a very wide perimeter, since the race crosses Paris from east to west, and vice versa. The Prefecture de Police has therefore put in place a very extensive traffic and parking system, which will last all day, in order to secure the perimeter.

To recap. The brave marathon runners will leave the Champs-Elysées avenue at 8 a.m., and reach the avenue Foch, via the place de la Concorde, the place Vendôme, the avenue de l'Opéra, the quai François Mitterand, the rue de Rivoli, the rue Saint-Antoine, the place de la Bastille, the rue du Faubourg-Saint-Antoine, the rue de Reuilly, the avenue Daumesnil, the avenue Saint-Maurice, the route de la Pyramide, the route de la Ferme, avenue de Gravelle, rue de Charenton, avenue Daumesnil, rue de Lyon, boulevard Henri IV, quai des Célestins, voie Georges Pompidou, avenue du Président Kennedy, avenue de Versailles, boulevard Exelmans, allée de la Reine Marguerite, avenue de l'Hippodrome, place de la porte de Passy, chaussée de la Muette, avenue Paul Doumer, avenue Raymond Poincaré and avenue Bugeaud.
You can therefore assume that all these areas are inaccessible for most of the day. For the Champs-Élysées and Rivoli, total closure from 7 a.m. to 12.30 p.m., for Bastille, the 12th arrondissement and the quays of the Seine, reopening around 3.30 p.m., and for the Bois de Vincennes, at 3 p.m. In the 16th arrondissement, the Boulogne and Trocadero areas will reopen to traffic at 4.30pm and 5.30pm respectively. As for Avenue Foch, you'll have to wait until 11pm!
Exceptions will of course be made for residents and service vehicles. Signs will be posted in the zones concerned to inform road users of these restrictions. The Préfecture de Police recommends that spectators use public transport during this period, and that private individuals move their parked cars.
