Bad news for Parisians planning to fly this Friday or Saturday on a Vueling plane. Due to a strike of its flight crews, the Spanish airline has announced the cancellation of 66 flights from or to Paris-Orly airport. Specifically, 34 flights are cancelled this Friday, April 21, and 32 others this Saturday, April 22.
"This situation is beyond our control and in order to try to minimize the inconvenience for our customers, we have been forced not to operate some of our scheduled flights," explained the company on its website.
In the same statement, Vueling has assured to adapt " the planned program while informing customers about the alternatives available, in order to limit the consequences of the strike of the flight crew ", adding to call " to the responsibility of the SNPNC-FO union so that it ends the strike and gives priority to dialogue to social confrontation.
For its part, the union of flight attendants at Vueling denounces in particular a"lack of recognition in the remuneration (of) flight attendants", a"significant change in schedules on many occasions during the month", or a"disconnection during rest days not respected".
And this strike comes at a very bad time, since this weekend marks the beginning of the spring vacations for zone C (academies of Créteil, Montpellier, Paris, Toulouse and Versailles). Worse, if no agreement is reached between management and the union, this strike could continue; the notice filed should cover at least the next three weekends of school vacations and bank holidays.
