After the €10 tickets sold to celebrate the 10th anniversary of OUIGO, the SNCF's low-cost train company, you can now discover OUIGOSWAP, an initiative that enables all travelers to free up their seat on board an OUIGO train at the last minute and benefit from a voucher corresponding to 80% of the original ticket price if another passenger buys it.
In fact, the only condition for receiving the voucher is that another passenger buys the seat(s) you put on sale at the last minute. The good news is that if you change your mind, you can always get your seat back until another passenger buys it.
How do you free up your train seat?
- On the OUIGO website or application, in the "My reservations" tab, select the ticket you wish to transfer.
- Once you've selected your ticket, click on "Free my seat". You can always cancel this action as long as your ticket has not been redeemed.
- If you still wish to sell your seat, all you have to do is wait for a new buyer: as soon as one is found, you'll receive a confirmation email with the purchase voucher.
This is a really practical solution if you can't make the train journey you've booked, as it usually costs €19 (per journey and per person) to change your ticket. Knowing that some OUIGO journeys start from €10 to €19, this is sometimes not very cost-effective!
