If you braved the record-breaking thunderstorms of the last weekend of July to catch your train at Gare Montparnasse, you've certainly had a long wait. A lightning-induced signal failure at Massy (Essonne) delayed several trains departing from this station, some for several hours. In particular, a Paris-Nantes train was delayed by more than 7h30.
As stipulated by SNCF regulations, passengers whose journeys were delayed by more than four hours received a full refund. You don't even have to make the request, the SNCF is taking care of everything, and if you're concerned, you should already have received a confirmation e-mail. Enough to make up for the inconvenience suffered by passengers this weekend.
The SNCF's schedule provides for a refund of 25% of the ticket price between 30 minutes and 2 hours' delay, 50% between 2 and 3 hours and 75% between 3 and 4 hours' delay.
