Beware if you're planning to take the train to get around during the Christmas vacations, as the SNCF is likely to be experiencing numerous cancellations and delays! SUD Rail is calling on the three other union organizations (CGT Cheminots, Unsa Ferroviaire, CFDT Cheminots) to mobilize for the end of the year, for better wages, reports Le Parisien. For the moment, no strike date has been set, but the unions are counting on this threat to reopen negotiations, with one or more days of action.
Last year, thedeparture of families on vacation was already disrupted by a strike by ticket inspectors just before the festive season. Suburban trains and TGVs could once again be severely affected throughout France. After the strikes against pension reform, this time the issue ispay rises, while inflation continues to wreak havoc. "Everything's going up, and railway workers aren't getting away with it," says Julien Troccaz, federal secretary of SUD Rail.
