Since January 2023, unions and citizens have been mobilizing against the proposed pension reform, and in particular against the extension of the legal retirement age. This text, supported by the government and largely disapproved by the French people, is facing strong opposition, organized by the unions. Although the bill was passed by force using the 49.3, the demonstrators have not yet given up, while the executive wishes to bring this reform into force on September 1, 2023.
The unions are therefore continuing the fight against this reform, and are calling on the French people to take further national action, this Tuesday June 6, 2023. In Paris, demonstrators are invited to gather on theesplanade des Invalides at 2pm, on their way to Place d'Italie, via rue de Grenelle, boulevard du Montparnasse and boulevard des Gobelins, as well as numerous places of power.
This latest demonstration, the first since May 1, will take place two days before the presentation to the French National Assembly of a bill to repeal the pension reform bill. Numerous transport disruptions are expected, notably at airports, and teachers' unions are calling for a strike in schools.
