To mark International Women's Rights Day this Friday, March 8, 2024, the Grève féministe collective and several unions are calling for a nationwide strike and demonstrations against inequality. In Paris, the procession will set off from Place Gambetta. We take stock!

Women's rights, a daily struggle that must be pursued. To mark International Women's Rights Day, several associations and trade unions are calling for a feminist strike. Demonstrators are invited to"strike against work, domestic tasks and consumption", as well as to take to the streets to take part in the various social movements organized this Friday, March 8, 2024.

This strike is a reminder of the battles still to be fought, and alerts us to the injustices that women still have to face. At the heart of the demonstrators' concerns are the precariousness of women in the job market, as well as wage inequalities, while " women represent 62% of those paid the minimum wage and 70% of food bank beneficiaries ", points out the Grève féministe collective.

The Grève féministe collective also links this social movement to women " confronted with the wars raging in the world ", to those " who face massive bombardments, exodus, are victims of wartime rape, struggle to feed themselves and their families ", as well as to those " who fiercely defend themselves to regain their freedom and their rights ".

In its call for a feminist strike, the collective also demands " the reopening of all closed voluntary pregnancy termination centers " and calls for " concrete action to combat all forms of sexist and sexual violence ".

The Grève féministe collective and five trade union organizations (CFDT, CGT, UNSA, FSU and Solidaires) are therefore calling for strikes and mobilization on March 8, 2024. In Paris, the demonstration will start at 2pm from Place Gambetta, in the 20th arrondissement, and march to Place de la Bastille.
