Modernization work continues on Paris's public transport network. After lines 8 and 5, another metro line will be partially closed to passengers. From Sunday April 7 to Saturday April 13, 2024, traffic will be interrupted on part of line 2. To guarantee passenger comfort and safety on the network, RATP is renewing the tracks on metro line 2. This operation will require traffic to be interrupted between April 7 and 13, 2024 inclusive ", explains the company on its website.
In detail, line 2 - which runs between Porte Dauphine in the west and Nation in the east - will be partially closed from April 7 to 13 inclusive between Père Lachaise and Barbès-Rochechouart. As a result, no metro service will run between these two stations during the 7-day closure. This traffic interruption covers the whole day.
La Chapelle, Stalingrad, Jaurès, Colonel Fabien, Belleville, Couronnes and Ménilmontant stations - located on the famous blue line of the metro - are therefore inaccessible from April 7 to 13, 2024 inclusive. Père Lachaise station (connection with line 3) will temporarily become the new terminus on line 2 for users coming from Nation. Barbès-Rochechouart station is the temporary terminus for passengers arriving from Porte Dauphine.
" Traffic may be disrupted, with the risk of very strong influences," warns RATP, inviting users to take metro lines 1, 3 and 9, as well as connecting RER line A. Wherever possible, passengers are also advised to postpone their journeys for the duration of the work.
This partial closure of line 2 for 7 consecutive days is likely to complicate the daily lives of some users wishing to travel to the east or west of Paris. All the more so as the work is taking place in the middle of the spring vacation period. RATP has therefore announced the introduction of replacement buses between Père Lachaise and Barbès-Rochechouart stations. These buses will serve all closed stations.
