A complicated weekend awaits RER C users in Essonne. From Saturday November 30 to Sunday December 1, 2024 until 5 p.m., no fewer than 21 stations will remain closed for essential maintenance and modernization work. Among the stations affected are key points such as Savigny-sur-Orge, Brétigny, Étampes and Dourdan.
The following stations will not be served this weekend: Savigny-sur-Orge, Épinay-sur-Orge, Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois, Saint-Michel-sur-Orge, Brétigny, Marolles-en-Hurepoix, Bouray, Lardy, Chamarande, Étréchy, Étampes, Saint-Martin-d'Étampes, La Norville, Arpajon, Égly, Breuillet, Breuillet Village, Saint-Chéron, Sermaise, Dourdan and Dourdan-la-Forêt.
These interruptions are part of a project to improve the reliability of the line, which is often used by local residents.
To limit inconvenience, a replacement bus service has been set up:
Users are advised to anticipate longer journey times, especially during rush hour, and to check specific bus timetables via the official RER C website or the Île-de-France Mobilités application.
Although alternatives such as carpooling or using local bus routes can be considered, options remain limited in this sector. If you can, opt for staggered commutes or telecommuting to avoid complications.
The work, which is making it very difficult for local residents to get around, is intended to improve the line over the coming months by modernizing an essential infrastructure for travel in the Paris region. We'll just have to be patient.
