The Fête de la Musique returns for its 41st edition in 2023! On Wednesday June 21, it's a chance to experience exceptional musical moments, in sometimes unusual locations. This year, the Place de la Bastille will be transformed into a dance floor, a concert hall and even an open-air theater stage!
Since 1982, the Fête de la Musique has been an annual musical event. Whether classical, pop, electro or jazz, it's a time to celebrate a melodious cultural diversity! For the record, this celebration dates back to an original idea by American composer Joel Cohen, who proposed in 1976 to create a "Fête de la Musique" on the summer and winter solstices. The idea was then taken up by Maurice Fleuret, Director of Music and Dance at the French Ministry of Culture, who convinced the relevant Minister to implement it!
Every year, the City of Light pulls out all the stops: concerts take place in parks, museums, churches... and even in the street! This year, the Place de la Bastille will be the venue for a concert by IBNJ. Dance, music and theatrical performances are scheduled throughout the afternoon.
So head on over to the Place de la Bastille for a colorful Fête de la Musique!
