The Fête de la Musique returns to Paris and everywhere else in France on Friday, June 21, 2024! For a whole day, amateur and professional musicians celebrate live music with open-air concerts in museums, churches and concert halls. Every Fête de la Musique features a wide range of musical styles, from electro and classical to jazz and hip-hop, not forgetting rock 'n' roll and dance.
But what exactly is the Fête de la Musique? A free, popular musical event, the Fête de la Musique was created in 1982 on the initiative of the French Ministry of Culture. Wishing to enable all musicians to express themselves and make themselves known, Jack Lang, Christian Dupavillon, architect-scenographer and member of his Cabinet, and Maurice Fleuret imagined a major popular and free event. The very first Fête de la Musique was organized on June 21, 1982, the symbolic day of the summer solstice.
For over 40 years now, music in all its forms has resounded across France every June 21, delighting music lovers everywhere. For rock lovers looking for a good deal, there's no shortage of concerts in Paris.
Every year on the same date, the bands that honor this musical style take to the streets. This is their chance to cover some of the great classics by Metallica, AC/DC, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The White Stripes, Radiohead and Muse! This way to a rocking Fête de la musique 2024!
