In addition to the usual tourists who choose Paris as their summer destination, special Olympics holidaymakers will be populating the streets of the capital. How many are expected this summer during the Olympic Games?

Every summer, tourists from all over the world flock to the streets of Paris to discover the French art de vivre, the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre Museum. But in 2024, they will be accompanied by travelers who have come especially for the Paris Olympic Games, which run from July 26 to August 11, and the Paralympic Games, from August 28 to September 8.

An extra wave of tourists to add to the number of people from the Paris region who will be staying on, due to vacations or telecommuting, and the French who want to experience the competition of the century in the capital! No fewer than 15.3 million visitors are expected to flock to the capital for the Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games!

This is a frightening figure, given that the population of the Paris region is already 12.4 million. But the city of Paris says it is"serene" and able to welcome all these people, as the capital is already "the most touristic city in the world" . Pierre Rabadan, deputy mayor of Paris, told France Bleu that, according to estimates, the influx will only be"one or two million more than usual".

With hotel prices soaring during the Games period, regular tourists are unlikely to mingle with those who have come especially for the competition. Over the past few Christmas holidays, many of them took advantage of a quieter city to discover Paris before the summer rush!
