The Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, which take place from July 26 to August 11 and then from August 28 to September 8, 2024, are a global event where the most talented athletes come to compete in intense and spectacular competitions. And Latvia, a small Northern European country, will be taking part.
Since the break-up of the Soviet bloc in 1991, Latvian athletes have taken part in every Games, winning medals in a variety of disciplines. Latvia's most recent medals came at the Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games!
The Nordic country was rewarded with a Gold medal in three-man basketball (a team comprising Agnis Čavars, Edgars Krūmiņš, Kārlis Lasmanis and Nauris Miezis), but also in weightlifting where Artūrs Plēsnieks won a Bronze medal in the under-109kg category.
So, will Latvia continue to win medals at the Paris 2024 Games? What's certain is that this Northern European country should once again offer us some great sporting moments!
