While the Paralympic Games don't officially begin until August 28, 2024, with the Opening Ceremony, the capital kicks off the festivities this Sunday, August 25, the day the Paralympic flame departs from Stoke Mandeville! From 4pm onwards, the Arènes de Lutèce fan zone opens its doors to celebrate handisport together, with numerous meetings, surprises and introductions to para-sports, accessible to children and adults alike!

Don't miss these initiations organized by the French Handisport Federation and try your hand at cecifoot, boccia, wheelchair basketball, para-fencing or para-archery. And if that's your thing, the capital is offering a whole host of classes in its parks and gardens for the duration of the Paralympic Games, free of charge! You can also try your hand at winning prizes and access to Club France.
It's also an opportunity to meet Paralympic athletes and talk to them about their sports! Pascal Gentil, taekwondo champion, Yvan Wouandji and Demba Sidibe, cecifoot players, Cyril Moré, five-time gold medallist in wheelchair fencing, Mathilde Troude, French boccia champion and Anne Elisabeth D'Acremont, wheelchair basketball player, will all be there!
And let's not forget the very first appearance of our beloved ParalympicPhryge, who will delight the youngest visitors! There'll also be plenty of free entertainment, including a fun, interactive photo exhibition of French Paralympic athlete records, a live fresco by street artist Lorem, and a giant Qui-est-ce!
