Boccia is one of only two disciplines on the Paralympic (rather than Olympic) program, along with goalball . Boccia is a ball game requiring precision and skill. Practised by disabled athletes at the Paralympic Games when it was included in the Paralympic program in 1984.
During the Paris 2024 Games, the boccia events will take place from August 29 to September 5, 2024 at the Arena Paris Sud, at the Porte de Versailles exhibition center. After joining the French team in 2015, French athlete Aurélie Aubert has qualified for her first Paralympic Games and will therefore compete in the women's BC1 category at the Paris 2024 Games.
Please note: boccia athletes have serious motor disabilities, and most of them use wheelchairs. There are four classification categories in boccia, ranging from BC1 to BC4.
