Released in October 2019, Return to Zombieland(Zombieland: Double Tap in the original version) is a horrificaction-comedy directed by Ruben Fleischer, sequel to the cult film Welcome to Zombieland (2009). The original quartet - Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin- return in this new adventure, where they must not only confront advanced zombies, but also manage the tensions of their makeshift family. Return to Zombieland is the ideal film for an evening of laughter and thrills.
Return to Zombieland is available on Netflix from December 1, 2024 and on Prime Video from October 25, 2024.
Synopsis: Chaos reigns throughout the country, from the White House to the most remote small towns. Our four killers must now contend with new breeds of zombies that have evolved in ten years, and a handful of human survivors. But it's the conflicts within this makeshift "family" that remain the most difficult to manage...
Ten years after surviving the zombie apocalypse, Tallahassee(Woody Harrelson), Columbus(Jesse Eisenberg), Wichita(Emma Stone), and Little Rock(Abigail Breslin) are still together and facing new threats. They've moved into the ruins of the White House, where they live as best they can. However, their daily lives are turned upside down when new types of zombies- faster, stronger and smarter - appear, adding an even more dangerous dimension to their survival.
In addition to this new threat, tensions within the group become increasingly difficult to manage. Little Rock, now a teenager, seeks to emancipate herself, while Columbus and Wichita must navigate the challenges of their romantic relationship. When Little Rock runs away with a pacifist hippie, the group embarks on a new rescue mission across the country, where they meet other eccentric survivors and discover that zombies aren't their only problem.
Return to Zombieland will appeal not only to fans of horror comedies and zombie films, but also to those who loved the first film for its perfect blend of dark humor, offbeat action and engaging characters. Fans of Shaun of the Dead or Welcome to Zombieland will find this sequel just as entertaining, with hilarious action scenes and spicy dialogue.
What makes Return to Zombieland original is the evolution of its characters and the introduction of new types of zombies, bringing renewed stakes to the plot. The film also plays on the family dynamics that have formed between the survivors, where the humor comes as much from the apocalyptic situations as from the interpersonal conflicts. The return of the original quartet, with performances as funny and charismatic as ever, and the addition of new characters like Madison (Zoey Deutch), delivers an explosive cocktail of laughter and action.
Available on Prime Video from October 25, 2024, Return to Zombieland is a deliriously horrific action-comedy where our heroes take on evolved zombies while trying to maintain their family cohesion. With biting humor, frantic action scenes and an exceptional cast, this film is a must-see for fans of the genre, perfect for an evening of relaxation and thrills.
Our review of Return to Zombieland (2019):
Return to Zombieland is an entertaining comedy, with comedians as funny and touching as ever, and a story that's just a tad better constructed than the previous opus. The arrival of new faces like Zoey Deutsch and Luke Wilson undoubtedly helps. A successful film in the main, bringing a certain freshness to the cinematic landscape of the moment.
Good points that counterbalance an unfortunately predictable and predictable script, a sort of rehash of the first part, minus the surprise and hemoglobin. An aftertaste of déjà vu that may dampen the spirits of some moviegoers, but should not satisfy hardcore fans of the previous opus. Note that the post-generic scene is worth its weight in peanuts! In short, a pleasant film, ideal for spending a Halloween evening with friends.
