If you were surprised to see the Mandalorian and Baby Yoda back together in The Mandalorian season 3 trailer, this article is for you. No, you weren't dreaming, the two characters did part ways at the end of season 2, so that Grogu could become a Jedi alongside Luke Skywalker.
But even though it was a failure, The Book of Boba Fett at least had the merit of being a sort of season 2.5 of The Mandalorian. For fans of Din Djarin(Pedro Pascal), his appearance saved the series from sinking, most importantly, it delivers information essential to the relationship between the Mandalorian and Grogu. Before launching season 3 of the Star Wars spin-off series, available from March 1 on Disney+, there are several things you need to know, so you won't be lost if you didn't bother watching The Book of Boba Fett.
In the latter, we discovered Din Djarin, alone, trying to master his brand new black saber. A great difficulty, so much this last one does not let itself be handled by the first person. The opportunity for him to pay a little visit to other Mandalorians. He loses his Beskar spear, melted down to make something else, a gift for Grogu. When Din Djarin admits that he took off his helmet, he is disbarred from the Mandalorians and leaves the planet, more alone than ever and without a ship, the latter having crashed.
He then takes the opportunity to get a new ship and visit his old friend, the little orphan he took in. He is greeted by Ahsoka, who explains that his gift will be given to Grogu, but that he cannot meet him because he will disturb his training.
However, Grogu keeps showing Luke how much he misses his first mentor. The legendary Jedi gives the boy an ultimatum: accept Din Djarin's gift and stop his training, or accept Master Yoda's lightsaber and become a Jedi, never to see the Mandalorian again.
For Grogu, the choice is quickly made, he puts on his gift, a Beskar chain mail, and leaves to join his surrogate father. Both of them then leave in his new ship, in order to live new adventures.
