Koh Lanta returns for a second 2024 edition on August 20. La tribu maudite (The Cursed Tribe) is the name of this season, which promises many surprises. We tell you all about what's in store this season and the candidates we'll be discovering or rediscovering this summer.

Koh-Lanta, the legendary survival game, is back with a vengeance for a second 2024 season, entitled La Tribu Maudite (The Cursed Tribe). This edition promises to be more exciting than ever. Denis Brogniart will once again be at the helm, guiding the candidates through this extraordinary adventure.

For the first time since 2021, TF1 is offering a second season of Koh-Lanta in the same year. This double bill testifies to the enduring success of the show, despite its 23 years of existence. The last edition, Les Chasseurs d'Immunité, attracted 4.5 million viewers, with around 1.1 million watching on a delayed basis. Following the final in June 2024, the first episode of Koh-Lanta, La Tribu Maudite is scheduled for Tuesday August 20 at 9:10pm on TF1.

The big news this season is the introduction of the Cursed Tribe. The four candidates who perform worst in the initial challenge will be excluded from the Yellow and Red tribes and sent to an inhospitable island. But their fate is not sealed. Thanks to protective statuettes they'll have to find, they'll have the chance to challenge other candidates for their place on the team. This new dynamic adds an intense strategic dimension to the adventure.

Koh-Lanta season 2024 brings together a diverse group of 24 candidates. 12 women and 12 men, from a variety of professional and geographical backgrounds, will try their luck in this fierce competition.

Two former winners, Ugo and Frédéric, return this year. Ugo, 42, winner of Le Feu Sacré in 2023 and La Malaisie in 2012, is renowned for his exceptional survival skills. Frédéric, 39, a formidable strategist, won the 2012 season. Their return adds a touch of spice and, above all, knowledge for the new tribes.

This season, the candidates come from the four corners of France, as well as Belgium and Switzerland. The youngest adventurer in the cast is 23, the oldest 51. Here's a detailed presentation of the adventurers who are about to amaze us with their exploits.

  • Frédéric won the season in 2023. The 35-year-old restaurateur from the Hauts-de-Seine region of France is known for his strategic thinking.

  • Ugo, like Frédéric, is a former participant in the adventure. Winner of his season in 2012, this 42-year-old naturalist guide from Pyrénées-Orientales was nicknamed "the phoenix" after his second participation in the 2021 edition of "The Legend".

  • Jacques is 38 and hails from Charente-Maritime. A dancer since the age of 5, he worked at the Lido until it closed in 2022.

  • Cassandre, the youngest contestant, is 23 and comes from the Rhône department. She is a writer and dreams, through "Koh-Lanta", of becoming "the heroine of [son] her own novel", she explains in her portrait.

  • Maxim, 28, is a bicycle delivery driver in Paris. Solitary and independent, he practices making fish traps at home.

  • Cécile comes from Haute-Saône. This Pilates teacher is also an expert in rifle shooting and qualified for the French championship last year.

  • Gustin, 26, is a lifeguard in Switzerland. He masters survival techniques and is particularly at ease in the wild.

  • Cécile, another candidate with the same name, is a flight attendant from Haute-Savoie. A lover of cheese and pole dancing, she trains in archery in her living room.

  • Fabrice is the director of an equestrian center in Ardèche. This demanding 40-year-old has been applying for "Koh-Lanta" for twenty-three years.

  • Charlotte is a youth mediator in Belgium, a job she describes as a "mix between Pascal the big brother and Super Nanny". The 28-year-old adventurer also enjoys Thai boxing.

  • Mélissa is a supermarket manager in the Var region of France. This 35-year-old candidate likes to "drive" and "be the locomotive".

  • Ilyesse, 23, describes himself as a "hothead". An engineering student in Seine-Saint-Denis, he wants to "make Koh-Lanta history" and win every challenge after the reunification.

  • Maud, 38, is a sales manager in Val-de-Marne. A former top-level gymnastics athlete, she took part in the Athens Olympics in 2004 as an alternate.

  • Alexandre, 33, is an osteopath in Paris. Particularly strategic, he can "appear pretentious, even a little too sure of [lui]" in everyday life.

  • Lola, 25, is a physiotherapist living in Martinique. A watersports fan, she admits to having "a very strong character and no tact".

  • Ari is a company director in Hauts-de-Seine. "I'm not an athlete, I'm not going to scare them physically, but intelligence makes up for a lack of sportsmanship", says this 51-year-old candidate, the oldest in the adventure.

  • Marie, 29, lives in Paris, where she works as a stock trader on the Asian markets. Her motto? "If you think adventure is dangerous, try routine, it's deadly."

  • Nathanaël is a forklift operator in Loire-Atlantique. This 27-year-old candidate, "calm and smiling", is taking part in "Koh-Lanta" in particular to pay tribute to his adoptive parents.

  • Sarah is a merchandising manager in the childcare sector in Loire-Atlantique. This 32-year-old adventurer describes herself as "frank and impulsive".

  • Sophia is a sports coach in Hauts-de-Seine. The 36-year-old candidate is also a reservist gendarme.

  • Vanessa, 39, is a principal dancer at the Bordeaux National Opera. She describes herself as a "woman of fire".

  • Emmanuelle, 45, is quality manager at a spirits company in Charente. Her assets? She describes herself as "positive, smiling and optimistic".

  • Michel is a human resources manager in Switzerland. This very athletic 36-year-old candidate has his sights set on "final victory".

  • Thibault, 34, is a farmer in southern Corsica. He is taking part in "Koh-Lanta" to "make the eyes shine" of his granddaughters.

With such a varied cast full of character, we can look forward to a season of "Koh-Lanta" rich in emotions and twists and turns. May the best man win!

This edition takes place on the island of Luzon, in the province of Caramoan in the eastern Philippines, a wild and isolated place that offers ideal conditions for the Koh-Lanta challenges. Denis Brogniart points out that this region requires a full day's travel from Manila, guaranteeing total immersion far from tourism.

Last season's finale, Les Chasseurs d'Immunité, crowned Lea, a 40-year-old HR manager, as the overall winner. She distinguished herself with a strong alliance and impressive performances in the orientation and pole events.

The new edition of Koh-Lanta promises new twists and turns and ever more intense challenges. 24 castaways from France, Belgium and Switzerland are ready to do anything to avoid elimination and survive on the hostile island of the Cursed Tribe. Join us on August 20 to follow this thrilling adventure and discover who will stand out from the crowd and escape the traps of this exceptional season.
