But what are the rules of para-rowing? This sport is open to athletes with various physical disabilities and is practiced over a distance of 2,000 metres, as in traditional rowing. The boats are adapted to the needs of the athletes, including fixed seats and stabilizers. Para rowing features specific categories according to type and degree of disability, enabling a wide range of athletes to participate and compete at the highest international level. This Paralympic discipline made its debut at the 2008 Paralympic Games in Beijing.
