Batman is dead... But Gotham is still infested with criminals. Come and fight DC's greatest villains in Gotham Knights, a supercharged RPG available from October 21, 2022 on PS5, Xbox Series and PC. We've tested it, and we'll tell you all about it!

Bruce Wayne is dead. Coincidence? Batman doesn't seem to be alive either. And Commissioner James Gordon is also dead. Since that fateful day, Gotham City's crime rate has soared, leaving its inhabitants in a permanent state of terror. The Dark Knight's young associates will now take over and restore order to this city beloved of madmen of all kinds. Bat-Girl, Nightwing, Robin and Red Hood join forces to fight crime.

Warner Bros. development studios have unveiled the next big hit of the year: Gotham Knights. This RPG/action game is due for release in France on October 21, and is available on PS5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC.

You play as the character of your choice. Each hero has his own characteristics, strengths and weaknesses. The game's official website explains that " Gotham Knights features an all-new, original story in which the underworld has taken over the streets of Gotham City. It's now up to the Bat-family (Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood and Robin) to protect Gotham from a descent into the underworld.Whether solving mysteries that link the darkest chapters of the city's history or defeating notorious villains in epic confrontations, players will face a range of challenges as they evolve into their own version of the Dark Knight."

Among the notorious villains in this all-new story are the timeless Harley Quinn, Mr. Freeze, the Court of Owls and the Penguin. To combat these criminals, we can of course count on the help of the indefatigable Alfred Pennyworth, as well as police captain Renee Montoya. Gotham Knights lets players customize their heroes, switch from one character to another as the need arises, and play in two-player co-op.

Our review of Gotham Knights :

Gotham Knights had everything to succeed, and yet... Not everything is rosy in this Warner Bros. Games title. Story-wise, the RPG plunges us into a dark, adrenaline-filled atmosphere, just as the Batman universe does so well. The story is gripping and relatively well-written, despite a few narrative problems. This is because the PNGs don't distinguish between the playable characters, compared with the changes made for the previous missions... But this remains anecdotal.

As for the graphics, their quality immerses us well in this adventure full of mystery, worthy of the greatest blockbusters. We'll also note the detail of the characters, which are quite well done overall. Gameplay, on the other hand, lacks fluidity and depth, in the sense that all the characters have exactly the same actions, with a few differences that can be unlocked as the adventure progresses. For such a rich universe, this is a real shame, as this aspect seems to have been botched.

The missions are also rather boring, always working in the same way: go out at night, reach a point of interest to start the mission and wait for the objective either by massacring everyone or by remaining discreet, all without offering any nuance. In our view, the game clearly lacks ambition, particularly in its gameplay and missions. A must-see if you're a true fan of the DC Comics universe. On your sticks!

High-risk investigation, suspense, fear, action... Gotham Knights is the perfect game for fall fun!
