A long-awaited event... On Wednesday March 20, 2024, Marvel unveiled a title and trailer for its famous game based on the adventures of Captain America and Black Panther. Entitled Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, the game is due for release in 2025 and hasn't been seen in a while... Since the Disney & Marvel Games Showcase conference, held in conjunction with D23 on September 9, 2022, to be more precise.
What do we know about this newcomer? On the story front, we learn that Captain America and Black Panther will fight against Hydra, a Nazi organization led by Red Skull, and that the story will be set during the Second World War, in Paris, France. A total of four characters will be playable: the two superheroes (including Azzuri, T'challa's grandfather), a Nanali, a Dora Milaje who is part of the Wakanda spy network, and a soldier, Gabriel Jones, who is part of the Howling Commandos. Developed by Skydance New Media, the same company Disney mentioned when announcing a video game showcase, the game will run on Unreal Engine 5. What's more, the first images unveiled look extremely promising, showing off the game engine's full potential.
So, you're going to tell us, Black Panther during the Second World War is a bit weird? Not really, since the game is inspired by a comic book released in 2010, Flags of our Father, as our colleagues at jeuxvideo.com remind us. And if not, Amy Hennig, scriptwriter on the Uncharted saga, will be at the helm of this opus, which promises to be one of the Marvel hits of the future. While we wait to learn more, let's discover the trailer together!
