Marvel's Spider-Man 2 trailer:

Synopsis of Marvel's Spider-Man 2:

What'sMarvel's Spider-Man 2 all about? We follow the adventures of the two Spider-Men, Peter Parker and Miles Morales, facing off against Venom and Kraven the Hunter. As with its predecessors, the game's mission is to"tell a beautiful superhero story", but also to"offer a fascinating human story, full of tenderness and humor, which allows us to discover what really lies behind people's masks", as Ryan Schnieder, Director of Franchise, Strategy & Studio Relations at Insomniac Games, explained in September 2021.

Our review of Marvel's Spider-Man 2:

Playing time: 41h, main story finished

A beautiful PS5 game, just the way we like it... Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is, without a shadow of a doubt, one of the best games we've played this year. And on several counts... Starting with the graphics, which are particularly well done. The first two Insomniac Games games were already beautiful, but this time, the studio has hit the nail on the head with something just as pretty, but more dynamic and fuller.

Then there's the story, which goes much further than the previous two games. It's denser, deeper and even more touching. We love it! The ending is particularly moving. Special mention to our Spider-Man dubbing champion, Donald Reignoux, who manages to make the character even more charismatic and touching. But the rest of the French voice cast is no slouch either...

In terms of gameplay, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 reuses part of what made the first two opuses such a success, while at the same time renewing itself, with some welcome new features, such as the famous wingsuit teased in various trailers, which allows you to quickly access (by combining the launch of canvases) different areas of the much larger map, since in addition to having access to the whole of Manhattan, you can also wander around Brooklyn and Queens, among others. The diversity of outfits ( Miles Morales, Peter Parker and symbiotic versions of the latter) also makes for a completely different gameplay experience, with each character having his or her own powers and techniques.

We also appreciate the fact that we can play Mary Jane several times during the main story, but also Hailey, bringing the dimension of disability into the game (the young woman is deaf), and completely integrating the young woman's handicap into the gameplay (since you'll hear almost nothing when you take the character in hand. A fine way of highlighting disability. Another highlight is the mission with Black Cat and the Staff of Watoomb stolen from the Sanctum Sanctorum, which allows you to travel from portal to portal (a bit like in the latest Ratchet & Clank on PS5), offering some pretty crazy moments graphically speaking.

Mission-wise, it's another change from the first games, since here, in addition to always having to fight different groups of enemies, you'll also have to rescue NPCs from kidnapping, a trapped bus or fire. You'll also have to transport the wounded directly to hospital or paramedics, adding an extra dimension to the hero's missions. It's varied, and really well thought-out.

In short, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is a real head-turner, and promises hours of gameplay for those who haven't yet got their hands on it. The end of the game hints at a third opus (even if it hasn't yet been announced), but Marvel's Wolverine should be the next Marvel and Insomniac game to hit the PS5. We can't wait to see what happens, given the quality of this opus about Spider-Man. Go for it, folks!

Note that a large part of the development team behind that opus returns here for this sequel, which should give an idea of the direction in which the studio wants to go. The trailer also gave a brief glimpse of the gameplay, and in particular the new powers of the two Spidermen.
